About Me
"I can help you become empowered by equipping you with a more expansive perspective and practical tools to achieve your goals. "
Hello, I'm Kim.
I am a professional life coach, which means I have trained formally in methods of personal growth and goal attainment, and I help others in this area. I have been coaching since 2014, but I have been involved in the work of personal growth for several decades. It is a defining element of my being. This has given me a sense of faith, confidence, and optimism in the process.
The basis of my work is the cultivation of a state of self-awareness that is the precursor for habit change and goal attainment. This is also referred to as mindfulness. As I coach you in this process, my style is encouraging, warm, and eclectic. I have a Master's degree in psychology, specifically in Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT), although I do not practice psychotherapy. My graduate level training included solution-focused coaching models as well as other coaching techniques and theories that I incorporate into my work. My life coaching training comes from the Life Coach Training Institute.
My work is informed by my study of psychology, religion, meditation, art, and mind/body disciplines such as yoga, Aikido, and tai chi. In addition to general life coaching, I am the co-creator of a holistic weight loss program, and author of the book Mindful Life Weight Loss. I have coached groups and individuals about holistic strategies to transform lifestyle and eating habits.
I am currently a practitioner of Aikido, holding a second degree black belt. Most days I can be found at the dojo training mind, body, and spirit, as I have since 2006. Aikido is a traditional martial art that focuses on the peaceful resolution of conflicts, both external and internal. The peaceful spirit of Aikido informs the work I do. I am also a student of tai chi, collage artist, animal rescuer, member of the non-profit Integrated Peace Arts (through which I do my coaching work) and mother.
I would love to talk with you to see if I could be helpful in achieving your goals. For more detailed information on my history, see my Linkedin page.
